The 7th International Conference of the Association of Biochemistry Educators: Teaching Biochemistry to Students of Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy was held from Sunday, May 5th through Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

The conference featured keynote addresses and workshops on self-regulated learning theory by Dr. Mary Andrews, MD MPH, FADP (Uniformed Services University), qualitative research methods by Dr. Janet Hafler, EdD, (Yale School of Medicine), and patient-centered teaching of genetic metabolic diseases by Dr. Mark Korson, MD (VMP Genetics, Atlanta, GA).  Other prevailing themes for our meeting workshops, panel discussions, and Education Discussion Group (EDGr) sessions included:

  • Approaches to Active Learning and Assessment
  • Educational Research and Scholarship
  • Integration of Biochemistry with Clinical and Basic Sciences in Teaching and Learning
