About the ABE

The ABE was formed in 2009 from the education interest group of the Association of Graduate and Medical Departments of Biochemistry.  The ABE became an independent non-profit in 2016 The organization consists of over 140 members from schools of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry and meets biennially to discuss innovations in biochemistry teaching to health professions students and to share ideas about education scholarship.  See our demographics for more information about the make up of the ABE.

ABE Board & Committees

The ABE is governed by a 11-member Board of Directors which meets monthly to conduct business and to plan the biennial meeting. 

The ABE has seven Standing Committees for member service:

  • Nominating Committee
  • Education Resource Development Committee (EDRC)
  • Professional Development Committee (PDC)
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (JEDI)
  • ABE Communications Development Committee (ACDC)
